My St. Valentine’s Day wasn’t filled with chocolates and roses. I gave up chocolate for Lent, among other more important things. I didn’t receive dazzling jewels or have a candlelit dinner for two. I didn’t even have a glass of wine.
For St. Valentine’s Day I hugged, kissed, smiled, laughed, adored, held hands, followed, picked up, snuggled, chased after, prayed with, and shared memories with my family.
The Love of God is made manifest in the sacrament of marriage, overflowing onto children, bewildering strangers, who wonder what special thing that family has.
“Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things . Love never ends.” – 1 Corinthians 13:7-8a
